Motorcycle Simulator

Simulation has the unique ability to allow students to repeat tasks without the risk of negative consequences degrading the learning environment. Students learn from repetition of tasks and can meet increasingly closer tolerances without error.

 Motorcyclists are exposed to a safe training environment that allows practicing of “real-world” speeds in a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning-space to develop critical motor-skills and tasks. More importantly, the ability to review in a 3-dimensional learning-space affords the instructor and student the opportunity to view and discuss performance, technique, success, and errors.

An orientation period will be required for students to acclimate to the simulator.  The purpose of the simulator is to practice techniques and procedures. It does not have the capability to be, nor is it intended to be, a 100% accurate model of a motorcycle. A stationary simulator cannot encompass all of the physics required in riding on two wheels. It DOES allow students to practice the techniques that are required to be a safe and proficient rider.

Advantages:

Ø The simulator reduces learner anxiety. Learning is easier and less stressful than on the range.

Ø Students can visualize and practice gross motor skills (i.e. friction zone control) without the fear of the unfriendly consequences of hard pavement.

Ø It is easier to concentrate on and master one learning objective at a time.

Ø Students can practice uncommon and potentially dangerous situations they will likely encounter in the real world, but not easily duplicated on the range.

Ø There is an increased ability to critique student abilities and mistakes using playback of recorded lessons.

Ø More training can be accomplished in a much shorter period of time.

Ø Training can be more personalized to individual student ability.

Types of simulator training;

 Basic Course:  Primary focus in this course is the true novice motorcyclist - particularly students who have not previously owned nor operated any type of two-wheeled single track vehicle (motorcycle).  Students attending a riding course who demonstrate difficulty in developing gross motor-skills necessary to safely operate a motorcycle: smooth clutch control, smooth braking and throttle control.

Intermediate Course:  Designed for motorcyclists that have mastered basic skills of motorcycle knowledge and control.  Students will be provided training in basic riding survival skills and introduced to riding in traffic, intersections, narrow roads and passing.

Advanced Course:  This course is designed to take intermediate riders, who meet the riding skill objectives required to survive the streets in the intermediate course and concentrate on developing a higher level of defensive riding techniques.
